The sea-front is characterized by a luxuriant vegetation, mainly given by countless palm-trees growing even in the sand. Because of its typical aspect, S.Benedetto del Tronto is also referred to as the “Riviera of the palm-trees”. The range of accomodation facilities, from hotels to apartments and camping sites, is quite wide. It is also possible to combine relax and sunbathing with sport activities to be practiced at the various structures offered by the town, such as the Tourist Port, the Yachting Club, the Tennis Courts, the Sport Centre, the Hockey and Skating Rings, the Bowling-Green, the Swimming Pool and the Athletics Playground. As the main town is close to green hills and picturesque little towns of medieval origin, interesting excursions within a span of few kilometres are available to art and history amateurs. S.Benedetto del Tronto is also the land of the famous dish “Brodetto alla Sambenedettese”, a delicious fish soup with a distinctive taste of vinegar, chilli peppers and green tomatoes. Indeed this is a well known area, famous for D.O.C. or originally produced and controlled wines, among which the Falerio white wine and both the Piceno and the Piceno Superiore red wines.
